CHINA New Maglev Train
A new generation of Chinese medium-tolow-speed magnetically levitated (maglev) trains have undergone a test run in Shanghai and are expected to enter the market within a year, CRRC Dalian announced on August 13. Research and development of the new maglev train began eight years ago, and the successful pilot run showed China has mastered core technology in new-generation magnetic suspension systems, according to Qu Tianwei, Chief Engineer with CRRC Dalian.
The maglev underwent a test run of 120 km per hour in Shanghai. Compared with the traditional rail transit system, the new medium-to-low-speed trains produce little noise and have better climbing ability and a longer service life, Qu said.
China’s first medium-to-Iow-speed maglev rail line started operation in May 2016 in Changsha in south China’s Hunan Province, making China one of the first countries to master such technology. CA
CHINA Car Sharing
China will support the country’s booming car-sharing industry and standardize its deveIopment, according to officiaI guideIines released on August 8.
Unlike traditional car-rental services, car-sharing services take advantage of new technologies such as global positioning and mobile Internet. Car-sharing companies should improve their services by checking the identity of users carefully and optimizing the supply of cars by using big data analysis, according to the guidelines. Companies are encouraged to use a credit-based model to evaluate the reliability of users instead of requiring them to pay guarantee deposits.
In terms of parking, public parking lots in shopping centers and large residential areas are encouraged to offer space for shared cars. Companies are also encoura
